Medicare Insurance Las Vegas

If you are nearing the age of 65, and are living in the greater Las Vegas area,

you could be eligible for Medicare. Medicare has various plans to fit into

your lifestyle and financial abilities. Below, we’ve provided some information

including an overview of what Medicare is, the different plans offered,

and the ways you can enroll in Medicare.

What Is Medicare?

In a nutshell, Medicare is a health insurance program that is geared towards people who are 65 years or older, some younger people with certain disabilities, and people who have End-Stage Renal Disease. End Stage Renal Disease is a permanent kidney failure that requires extensive medical attention such as dialysis or a transplant. Medicare is provided by the federal government. Medicare generally covers about 80% of your Medical costs. This leaves you with 20% of the costs to pay out of your pocket. However, there are many different types of coverage that contribute to your Medicare coverage as a whole. Here is a breakdown of the different kinds of coverage Medicare can offer, and how we can help you find a plan that works for you.

Medicare Plans

i

Medicare Plan A

In general, Part A of Medicare covers: Hospital, Hospice, Home Health Care, Skilled Nursing Care and Nursing Home Care.

To be eligible for Part A of Medicare, premium-free, you or your spouse worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years and you must be age 65 or older, according to HHS.gov. You can receive Medicare Part A without having to pay premiums if:

  • You receive retirement benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board
  • You are able to receive Social Security or Railroad benefits but you have not yet filed for them
  • Your spouse or you had Medicare-covered government employment

You may be able to buy Medicare Part A if you are 65 and older and a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, but neither you nor your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working.

i

Medicare Plan B

Overall, Medicare Part B covers: Doctor and Specialist Visits, Lab Tests, Mental Health Care, Ambulance, Preventative Services, Wheelchairs, Walkers, Oxygen, and Outpatient Hospital.

Unfortunately, there is no way to receive Medicare Part B for free. The good news is that typically, the monthly premium is deducted from your Social Security, Railroad Retirement, or Civil Service Retirement check.

If you do not fall into any of these categories, you will be billed every three months for your premium of Medicare Part B.

i

Medicare Part C: Medicare Advantage

Medicare Part C combines Medicare Parts A & B. In addition, you can receive other benefits and services provided by a private insurance company. Benefits are in one cohesive plan in Medicare Advantage.  All types of Medicare Advantage Plans provide coverage for emergency and urgently needed care, according to medicare.gov. Some such benefits provided are:

  • Flat Rate or $0 Copays for Services
  • In bedded Part D Prescription coverage
  • Dental and Vision coverage
  • Hearing Aid coverage
  • Gym Memberships

Depending on the insurance company or your location, the plan coverage, benefits and services vary. Plans may be as low as $0 per month. If you’re unsure what you are qualified to receive, feel free to reach out to one of our expert insurance agents today!

Medicare Plan D

Medicare Part D covers prescription drugs. There are two ways that you can get Part D prescription drugs coverage.

1) Voluntary enrollment in a stand-alone Medicare Part D plan OR

2) Enrollment in Part C (Medicare Advantage) plan that offers Part D prescription drug coverage.

Typically, Medicare covers about 80% of your Medical Cost. This usually means that you will be paying 20% of your medical costs out of pocket.
